The Gem Smith was started by Blaine Smith in a small shop he and his father constructed in their backyard.
Blaine was the first to receive permission from the LDS Church to manufacture CTR rings in both Sterling Silver and 14KT Gold. Over the years The Gem Smith has specialized in LDS based rings, charms, tie tacks, and more.
Work continued in Blaine's backyard until 1987 when The Gem Smith moved to 543 West 100 North in Bountiful. This move allowed The Gem Smith to expand and hire more employees. The Gem Smith stayed at this location for 18 years. 
In the summer of 2005 The Gem Smith moved to their current location, 587 West 2600 South in the Square @ 2600. They enjoy this location and their beautiful store. It continues to house manufacturing as well as a retail store selling beautiful jewelry of all kinds.
The Gem Smith is a full retail store with the capability for all types of repairs and custom design work. The Gem Smith can do repairs on most types of metals including costume jewelry, eye glasses, and more.
